After exploring a variety of meditation techniques since 1997, I started a Mindfulness course and experienced a feeling of 'coming home'. I discovered how much I needed the self-acceptance that is an integral part of the practice. When I refrained from judging my experience my mind was able to relax. Ah the relief!
This led to further training and retreats in Mindfulness, Compassion and Mindfulness Teaching Skills at Samye Ling with the Mindfulness Association and Rob Nairn, a leading teacher in the field. The journey continues to unfold and deepen. I am also really interested in what neuroscience has to teach us about reshaping our brain for happiness rather than fear based living. Tara Brach, Paul Gilbert, and Rick Hanson are current influences in my journey and in my teaching.
I am currently practicing Somatic Mediation. A form of Mindfulness centered on the body which is derived from Vajrayana Buddhism. My teacher is Reggie Ray who carries the ancient lineage whilst weaving the modern knowledge from neuroscience and psychotherapy into the practice.
My background in yoga has given me a wealth of experience in helping people shift their awareness right into the body in a way that feels grounded, at home and rested in the present moment.
I have been teaching the 8 week Mindfulness Based Living Course MBLC and a 4 week 'Befriending Mind & Body' courses since 2013. I also facilitate the 8 week Compassion Based Living Course.
I follow the Good Practice Guidelines and am on the UK Listing of Mindfulness Teachers.
